Message from the Provincial Women's Board:

Greetings, Sisters in Christ,

Have you ever received a letter from someone you don’t even know? Well if you have not, you have now. You probably don’t know me and I probably don’t know you. The purpose of this communication is to correct that; to get to know one another, be able to listen, share ideas, and grow in Christ.

I am writing to you as a representative of the Provincial Women’s Board of the Northern Province of the Moravian Church. My name is Sarah Mathias and I am a member of the Gnadenhutten, Ohio Moravian Congregation. I am humbled by the office I hold on the PWB as president and honored to serve. I pray that I am up to the task.

The PWB meets the first Wednesday after Easter to plan the Spiritual Life Study, Mission Study, and put together ideas for your women’s groups. I think we are a great group of talented women seeking God’s purpose. However, our ideas might not fit yours and so, the reason for this letter.

I would ask you to pray for the PWB; that we would be open to the leading of the Holy Spirit and open to suggestions. I would like you to brainstorm and send us your ideas. We do not know what you think of the studies if you do not let us know. There is an evaluation in the middle of each Spiritual Life Study book. However, not too many women send this to us. Please share with us what you would like to study, how you include all ages in your fellowship groups, and what may peak the interest of younger women. We are asking you to give us some time and thought.

It seems that churches are struggling for time. Women in particular are pulled in many directions as we try to “make time” for many activities. How we spend our time often defines who we are. And now, I am asking you for your time. What is it time for? … a new perspective ? … different study? …new missions? … some kind of  change?

What are your success stories, your hopes and dreams for your fellowships, and your expectations of the PWB. What do you need or want from us?

Please write, e-mail, or call me. I would like your ideas before the PWB meeting on March 26 – 30, 2008. The time is now, to share your thoughts on the direction of Moravian Women. There is always a danger in asking for ideas. Not all ideas may be used right away. It is through prayer and seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit that everything will be used in God’s time. There’s that word again, time - God’s time, not our time. I believe that it has been God’s timing that has brought each of us to the place we are in our Christian journey. May our journey continue together as we seek His leading.

It is my hope that your Moravian Women will remain a healthy active ministry within your church and together we can make a difference for Christ.

I look forward to hearing from each of you.
