Measuring our Church support:

Cash Balances

Actual Budget Variance

As of 12/31/07

$  30,300
Year to Date Receipts $  99,852 $112,292 $12,440
Year to Date Expenses $110,471 $110.344     $     127
Current Liabilities $    4,807 $    4,807
As of 3/31/08 $  14,874 $  27,441 $12,567

As can be seen from the above, income has not kept pace with our expense with the result that we are about $12,500 behind our plan for the year. Our expenses run about $32,000 per month so we have only about half a month’s cash in reserve. We are living Sunday to Sunday.

Why is this?

The Financial Secretary reports that through March, 56% of the congregation has made some contribution to the church but less than 40% have given enough to cover our first quarter obligation for Denominational Assessment.

Our average attendance for the first 15 Sundays this year is 147 compared with 152 for the same period last year. This represents approximately 25% of the membership in attendance on Sundays.

The Church needs your participation to realize our mission of Living in Fellowship and Growing in Christ. We have many worthwhile programs, come out and see what is happening at your Church.

Dear Brothers and Sisters In Christ,

Recently I have been approached by members of the Board of World Missions regarding the education ministry at Emmaus Moravian Church. It has been noted that the Ministry of Education within our church family is strong, effective and vital, thanks to the dedication, efforts and gifts of many people including our pastors, our Christian Education committee members, our teachers and others! On many occasions our congregation has been recognized and uplifted because of our successful education ministry. In light of this, we have been invited to consider sharing our ministry of education with others outside of the walls of our church!

I am pleased to share with all of you that this August, I will travel with my daughter, Lindsay, on behalf of the Emmaus Moravian congregation and together with a small team of other Moravians, to teach our brothers and sisters in Barbados, part of the Eastern West Indies Province of the Moravian Church of America. We will share approximately 10 days together teaching small groups of children and also offering training workshops designed for teaching the educators there. I am also quite certain that our friends in Barbados will have much to teach us as well!

I am extremely excited about this opportunity to establish a relationship with other Moravians abroad. I am planning to share a lot about our congregation… who we are, what it is like to live and work and worship here. I am planning to learn about the people there and what it’s like to live and work and worship there.

As more information comes our way, I will share it with everyone. In the meantime, please keep this ministry in your thoughts and prayers.

Your Sister in Christ,

Linda Wisser, Director of Christian Education

Campbell labels and Box tops

Do you buy Campbell products?

If so, you could help out our local schools. Many area schools collect Campbell labels and Box Tops for Education. They help the schools buy playground equipment and educational products.

For Campbell products, cut off the front part of the label. Box Tops are found on various products including Cottonelle and Kleenex. They are rectangle in shape and usually about 1” long.

If you have any of these labels, please place them in the brass mail slot in the church, or drop them off in the office. Thank you!

 Market Day News

Anyone looking for healthy and convenient food to put on your table? Look no further! Market Day has it all! They have family sized meals, meals for two, and even single-serve portions. The variety and selection of foods offered cover everything from fully cooked roasts, seafood, vegetables, appetizers, and delicious desserts. Pick up a brochure on your way out of the church. If you are unable to pick up your food on pick up day - don’t worry. Just let a Market Day person know and we will gladly pick it up and put it in the church’s Market Day freezer. You can then have the luxury of picking it up on Sunday. It’s a great way to support the church while enjoying great comfort food!
